the headless bean

strange and unusual

Just as I was ready to take a nice nap in my perch, something really scary happened! I saw this big metal thing coming towards me and it landed above my head on the roof. Then, I started to get up when I saw a pair of legs, human bean legs! It was really really scary! I was real brave and stayed long enough to see some pieces of leaf fall down around those legs.

I made my tail get real big and I slithered across the living room floor. That's when Mommy came to my rescue and took me away. She said I was shakin' like a leaf! I got more scared because if I was a leaf, I'd be outside with those scary legs!! But she held me close and said it was OK and handed me off to Gramma who gave me a comforting hug.

How strange that this pair of bean legs were there and then gone. I also saw a little bean out on the lawn with Mr. Rake. I don't like Mr. Rake a'cause he scared me once when I sniffed him. He fell down and made a big kaboomie sound that I didn't like so I didn't even stay to see what happened to the little bean.

When I was done being scared, I went back to my perch and began to nap. That's when I heard it. A big scratching sound on the roof in Gramma's room. Well, that was all I needed! I ran off to my bedroom and hid under Mommy's bed. I didn't come out for a real long time.
