The gardens, revisited
Today I looked out and noticed that there are some new flowers in the gardens so I asked my photographer to capture some of them on film a'fore something happened to them. This document will be a bit long and may take a little while to fully upload a'cause of the photos so sit tight...here goes!

This is one of the hollihocks. I learned they are actually chinese herbs from the mallow family. Interesting eh? They also happen to be one of Gramma's ab fab flowers, hence why it grows by her bedroom window :)

Last year, Momma wanted to get some really interesting perennials for Grampa's memorial garden. This is one of them. It is called the balloon flower. When the flower is still budding, it blows up like a balloon and then eventually opens up into a beautiful periwinkle flower! You can sorta see a bud just behind the top left petals. Me likes.

Grampa was known for keeping beautiful gardens, so I've been told. That's why Momma wanted to honor him by keeping them up as bestest as she can. Here are some of the Hosta that he planted when Momma was a wee girl...

This happens to be Momma's favorite flower. It am called a hydrangea. Kinda funny name but I really like the way they bloom. Depending on the kind of soil it is growing in, the hydrangea will bloom in different colors ranging from deep pink to purple and blue too! We usually get purple and blue.

The old lady next door like the Rose of Sharon. This one replanted itself within the rose bush in the backyard. It was blooming so high in the sky that my photographer had to reach up and bring it down to take the picture. Don't worry, it's still attached to the tall bush!

This little sunflower was a big surprise to all of us! Momma didn't plant it. Know who did? The birdies! They eated all the seed and somehow one of the sunflower seeds planted itself right in the middle of the hostas. Pretty neat huh?

This orange zinnea has been attracting the goldfinch. It likes to peck at it and eat the middle. I like the zinneas a'cause they come up all different colors. We're still waiting on the others to bloom but they're budding!

Gramma loves little hummingbirdies. She said she's heard them fly by once or twice...I sure wish that I could see one in purrson! But anyway, she learned that they like orangy red flowers. This one is called a trumpet vine. It is growing all over the old shed in the backyard! See how it's in the other tree? It grew in there too :) Well, no hummingbirdies yet, and I haven't heard them make trumpet noises yet either but I'm enjoying seeing these neat little flowers.

I thought our rhododendron bushes were all done blooming but know what? This one is the great big bush that grows right next to my birdie feeder. I thought it wasn't gonna bloom this year but it did!

Here's somethin' really cool. These are the bell flowers out on the deck. Momma planted purple, yellow and deep red. See the magenta colored ones? They're new! The bell flowers made their own colors! It's like an art lesson right on the back deck...purple and red makes magenta :)

Here's the bestest picture of them all (as far as I'm concerned). Methinks KC will like it! This am one of the bumble bees that like to taste the pollen in the flowers. Here, this one am resting on top of the hosta flower. Perhaps it's pondering which flower to taste next? Usually they hang out by the bell flowers where I can bat at them. I like to do that but Momma says it am dangerous...

What a pretty yard/garden you have Timmy. You must be very proud. My yard is very pretty too 'cause my dad works real hard out there lots. The doggie that lives behind us is jealous 'cause his yard is all plain and stuff
Ooooh! So beautiful. No wonder you have so many interesting birds and critters in your yard. The Girl has only been working on my garden for a year, so there's still lots of parts that are all jungle, but that's fun too!
Hi Edsel! Thank you for the compliment! It's nice having a fancy yard a'cause it gives you something to look at and makes the Momma feel all accomplished 'bout somethin.
Same here Musette. Momma's still learning new tricks to keeping things alive. The Balloon Flowers were the only thing to come back. She planted so many nice flowers but unfortuately, the aminals like to eat them down to nothing...
Our Mommy loves the hydrangea, I love the sunflower-my fav-, Shadow loves the tall one your Mom had to pull down and Ko Ko isn't around so we aren't sure which one he would like. Beaaauutiful flowers ~Merlin and Shadow
So glad these photos were taken. The flowers are beautiful.
Timmy, my momma looked at your pictures and she got all jealous. She started her own garden this year, but she doesn't have nearly as many nifty flowers as your momma's garden.
I told her that it was her first garden and she'll do better next year, but she's a perfectionist and thinks she has to do things right the first time out.
Sometimes I wish she could think like us doggies. Nothing's no big deal and you should only do it if you like it and who cares what the results are? I mean, I like to dig holes, but the results are kinda ugly. Doesn't stop me from starting new holes, though.
Woof! (China)
Momma says that our gardens look really fancy but the truth of the matter is, those are close ups. What you don't see is all the green stuff around it that's not as fancy. Most of the flowers have died off a'cause of the extreme heat. No amount of water will keep them going. 'Cept for the ones that love hot sun 24/7. Those are doing very well. And the hostas are sturdy...
