An Exciting Visit
For the last few days, just around 7:30 p.m., I have smelled the same animals in the yard. I happened to peek out the window in time to see a herd of deer crossing the busy road! I was so worried they wouldn't make it that I had to look away and hope no monster with wheels would hit them. I saw lots of lady deer running ahead and jumping over the fence across the street. I even saw a baby with white spots! How neat!! But the biggest thrill came last. This big buck was the last to arrive in the front yard. He must be real important because he stood tall and prrroud.
Big Buck!
Mommy said she was outside when she heard a funny sound on the front lawn. She looked up in time to watch a doe cross the street and then, just like before, the big buck came! He didn't know she was there but he stopped and stood with his chest held high. Mommy said he was much bigger and taller than her. That's awful big! Then, her keys jingled in her hand and he looked right at her. She said he was so powerful and had a real intelligent look in his eyes. She knows that intelligent look a'cause I give it to her all the time :) Then, he turned and leaped in the air eventually crossing the road to catch up with the rest of the herd. How neat! And, how fitting that we should get a visit from deer so close to Christmas! I wonder if there's a sleigh somewhere nearby???
