Do You Have An Appetite?
We were enjoying the lovely afternoon weather out on the deck when Gramma noticed something in the woods behind our house. I didn't tell her but I saw it too...
This Peregrine Falcon lives in the neighborhood and hunts down the duckies that live nearby. Sometimes I can hear her screeching across the sky! She is byfar, the coolest animal that lives near us. It's not everyday that you see a birdie that could feed you for a week! Delish! I have a feeling if she wanted to, she could have me for dinner as well. Maybe that's what she was doing up in the tree...stalking me!
Because it can reach almost 200 miles per hour (wow!) when diving for prey, the peregrine falcon has been called the fastest animal on earth. I don't think so! I am the fastest animal on earth!! Anyway, this special birdie used to be on the endangered species list (which makes it an honor to have in our backyard) when they ate too many birdies that were infected with DDT. That stuff is nasty. Now, there's a bunch of these falcons and they are no longer considered endangered! Yipee!
